Coordinates: 32 ° 48 ′ S , 134 ° 13 ′ E The District Council of Streaky Bay is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 6232 km² and has about 2000 inhabitants (2016).
Streaky Bay is located on the western end of the Eyre Peninsula about 470 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 24 hamlets and villages: Baird Bay, Calca, Capietha, Chandada, Courela, Cungena, EBA Anchorage, Emerald Rise, Fishermans Paradise, Haslam, Inkster, Karcultaby, Mount Cooper, Perlubie, Pelubie Landing, Piednippie, Poochera, Sceale Bay , Smooth Pool, Streaky Bay, Wirrulla, Witera, Yanerby and Yantanabie. The council is headquartered in the coastal town of Streaky Bay to the west of the LGA.

The Streaky Bay Council has eight members elected by residents of the two wards (four each from Eyre and Flinders Ward). These two districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
