Tatjana Kuschtewskaja (born September 8, 1947 in the Dargan-Ata desert oasis , Turkmen SSR ) is a Russian writer and poet living in Germany .

Life

Tatiana Vasilyevna Kuschtewskaja spent her youth in Ukraine . She completed a degree in music education at the Artemivsk Academy of Music and worked as a music teacher in Yakutia for eight years . From 1976 to 1981 she graduated from the Faculty of Screenwriting at the Moscow Film School . From 1983 to 1991 she taught a master class for scriptwriters and worked as a freelance journalist. She wrote numerous scripts and reports and traveled to all regions of the former USSR . In 1991 she settled in Germany and has since lived as a freelance writer in Essen . She is a member of the International PEN Club, the Association of German Writers (VS) and a member of the European authors' association Die Kogge . In 1997 she and Dieter Karrenberg founded the “German-Ukrainian Literature Prize Oles Hontschar”. This prize is awarded annually and aims to support and promote modern Ukrainian literature. The prizes are awarded in five categories: epic large form (novel), epic small form (narrative), poetry, literary studies and journalism. Tatjana Kuschtewskaja is the mother of the Moscow-based painter and stage designer Janina (Jana) Kuschtewskaja.
