Tatsumi Naofumi
Danshaku Tatsumi Naofumi ( Japanese 立 見 尚 文 ; born August 21, 1845 in Kuwana , Japan , † March 6, 1907 in Tokyo , Japanese Empire ) was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army .
Life
Naofumi was born as Tatsumi Kanzaburō ( Japanese 立 見 鑑 三郎 ) in the Kuwana fiefdom. In the Boshin War from 1868 to 1869 he fought against the imperial troops in the course of the Meiji Restoration . After the fighting ended, he was captured and changed his name to Naofumi . Pardoned by the imperial government, he first became a judicial officer.
After the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877, he joined the Imperial Army as a major and fought during the First Sino-Japanese War .
On October 31, 1898, he took over the 8th Division as Lieutenant General and led it into the Russo-Japanese War . His division was subordinate to the 2nd Army and took part in the Battle of Sandepu .
In May 1906 he was promoted to general and in early 1907 he was appointed Danshaku (baron) according to the Japanese nobility system of Kazoku .
Naofumi died in Tokyo on March 6, 1907 .
