The pigeon tower at Strathleven House is a pigeon tower near the Scottish town of Balloch in West Dunbartonshire . It is on the Strathleven House estate south of town. In 1971 the pigeon tower was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest category A.

history

In 1670, William Cochrane, 1st Earl of Dundonald acquired the lands of Strathleven. William Cochrane, 3rd Earl of Dundonald had the Strathleven House built there between 1700 and 1708. Archibald Campbell, Lord Stonefield later bought the property. The extensive park, which can be seen in contemporary pictures, was probably built under his direction. It is not recorded whether the pigeon tower was built when the manor was built or when the park was being designed. Since 2008 the structure has been listed on the register of endangered buildings in Scotland. His condition is classified as poor, but the risk is classified as moderate.

The two-story pigeon tower has a square floor plan. Its building edges are set off with red sandstone. A door is set in the middle of the front facing south. It is framed and crowned by narrow pillars . There is a blind arched window above. The ground floor space ends with a vaulted ceiling .
