The diving community Porz , with over 200 members, one of the largest diving associations Westphalia North-Rhine in the city of Cologne . She trains in the Wahnbad in the Wahnheide district , in the high performance center of the sports university in the Müngersdorf district and at diving sites in the vicinity (e.g. at Fühlinger See , Hitdorfer See, Rursee and Aggertalsperre ). The club's headquarters are in the clubhouse at Wahnbad, Albert-Schweitzer-Str., 51147 Cologne-Wahn. The club's chairman is Odo Wolbers. The association was founded in 1962.

Members and Divisions

Currently (2020) the association has a little more than 200 members, of which around 45 are children and young people.

The club offers diving activities, including fin swimming , scuba diving , freediving ( apnea ) and underwater rugby .

Services

The TSG is organized in the Tauchsportverband NRW and trains according to the guidelines of the Association of German Sports Divers (VDST). It is also organized through the Stadtsportbund Köln (SSBK) in the Landessportbund Nordrhein-Westfalen and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

Although all branches are geared towards popular sport, the freedivers, the fin swimmers and the underwater rugby team have enjoyed national success several times.

Freediving (apnea)

Ute Weinrich achieved 2nd place in Statik Women and 3rd place in Dynamic Bi-Fins Women at the 2nd open German championships in freediving.

Fin swimming

TSG athletes were also successful in fin swimming, including Axel Lanvermann (1989 German champion in 800 m), as well as six second and third placements between 1988 and 1997 in 400 and 800 m. Fin swimming is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as an Olympic sport, but has not yet been included in the Olympic program.
