Tauern cemetery
The Tauernfriedhof is a cemetery near the Radstädter Tauernpass in Obertauern in the municipality of Untertauern in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg . The cemetery with the chapel is a listed building .
history
The cemetery was assumed to be the presumable location of the Roman road station In Alpe . At the top of the pass there are six Roman milestones from the 3rd century which were transferred here from the Moaralm . The cemetery is on the top of the pass next to the road and was consecrated in 1515. Renovations were in 1929 and 1949/1950.
architecture
The cemetery is surrounded by a wall. On the west side of the wall there is a chapel-like high open niche with a shingled tent roof with a crucifix from the 18th century.
Furnishing
There are tombstones from 1534, 1585, 1658, and others.
