Taunusheim is a German Viking Metal band that used to be called "vikings from norway". Her texts, mostly in German, deal with the stories of the Vikings , but the Taunus Mountains are also mentioned.

history

In 1995 the brothers Erik and Patrick founded the band Taunusheim, which was completed in mid-2000 with the keyboardist Ilona Jeschke. Before the debut album, three demos were released that sold a total of 3000 copies.

After the last demonstration “Ilmarsj”, the members initially devoted themselves to various other projects; Jeschke started her project Carved in Stone . Taunusheim did not record new songs again until the winter of 2004. The following January the songs were mixed and mastered in Klangschmiede-Studio E.

This resulted in the debut album “Nebelkampf”, equipped with seven Taunus and Pagan hymns. “Nebelkampf” is a work that continues the Taunusheim line and tells its listeners again about battles and Nordic legends. Taunusheim explicitly distances itself from the abuse that recent history has carried out with the old symbols.

style

In addition to the classic riff schemes of Black Metal , Taunusheim uses atmospheric orchestrations and folk instruments. The singing is nagging and guttural and is complemented by hymn-like choir singing. The tempos stay in the middle range.
