family

The family, first mentioned in a document in 1148 with Angelbertus de Fondra, goes back to Bonazolus Fondra de Bordogna (* around 1330).

Bonus von Bordogna worked with his brother-in-law Taxis in the postal service and took over the post office in Trento from his brother-in-law David von Taxis . Initially, the name was Bordogna from Taxis . On the occasion of the elevation to the baron status by Emperor Charles VI. the name was changed to Freiherrn, later to Count of Taxis-Bordogna-Valnigra . The baronial branch held the postmaster postmaster's office in Trient and on the Adige , the count held the postmaster's post in Bolzano .
