The Tay River is a right tributary of the Pelly River in the territory of Yukon in Canada .
The approximately 160 km long river has its origin in the 1082 m high and 9 km² large Tay Lake . It initially flows in a predominantly west-northwest direction. For the last 50 kilometers, the Tay River turns to the west-southwest. Finally it flows into the Pelly River 60 km northwest-north of Faro . The Tay River limits the Anvil Range , a smaller mountain range, to the north. The mean discharge 8 kilometers above the mouth is 27 m³ / s.
The river name is derived from the River Tay in Scotland .
