Teaninich (pronounced "Chee-an-inick") is a whiskey distillery near Alness , Ross-shire , Scotland , UK . It is not far from the Dalmore and Glenmorangie Distilleries in the Northern Highlands .

history

The Teaninich distillery was built in 1817 by Hugh Munro with two stills . It was leased by Robert Pattison in the 1850s and passed to Munro & Cameron in 1898. In 1905 it was taken over by Robert Innes Cameron and in 1934 by Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD). In 1962 a second pair of stills was installed. A new building with three focal few stills were added in 1972, which as Side A was called. This and the old kiln building ( Side B ) produced in parallel until 1984, but despite modernization in 1974, Side B was closed and then demolished in 1999. In 1985 the distillery was temporarily closed completely. From 1991, operations on Side A were resumed.
