Teays Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Putnam County , West Virginia in the United States and consists of the two localities of Teays and Scott Depot. In 2000 the CDP had 12,704 inhabitants.

Teays Valley's geographic coordinates are 38 ° 27 ' N , 81 ° 56' W (38.447204, -81.937324). According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 19.2 km² , of which 19.0 km² is land and 0.2 km² (= 1.08%) is water.
Teays Valley takes its name from the broad valley of the same name , in which the pre-glacial Teays River flowed to the west. Today a series of small streams flow in the part, which in the east of the valley flow into the Kanawha River and in the west into the Mud River .
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Teays Valley was inhabited by 12,704 people. The population density was 668.3 people per km ². There were 5062 housing units at an average of 266.3 per km ². The Teays Valley population was 96.39% White , 0.94% Black or African American , 0.11% Native American , 1.59% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 0.25% said others Belonging to races and 0.70% named two or more races. 0.77% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Teays Valleys distributed to 4789 households out of which 39.6% were living in children under 18 years of age. 67.3% of households were married, 9.0% had a female head of the household without a husband and 21.7% were not families. 19.1% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.6% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.00 people.
The population was divided into 27.2% minors, 6.4% 18–24 year olds, 29.8% 25–44 year olds, 24.1% 45–64 year olds and 12.4% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 women there were 92.0 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 87.6 men.
