Tebbutt is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the lunar front , near the southwestern edge of Mare Crisium , south of Lick crater and west of Shapley . The rim of the crater is very badly eroded and largely leveled, so the crater is difficult to make out.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1973 after the Australian astronomer John Tebbutt .
