Technical regulation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A technical service regulation ( TDv ) is a service regulation of the Bundeswehr in which all work steps for the use, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and defense material are explained.

Function and content

The technical service regulation is divided into further subgroups, called "parts".

There are general TDVs with content that contain general product groups (such as batteries) and device-related TDVs that describe a specific device. Device-related TDVs are divided into device-accompanying and non-device-accompanying TDVs. The person responsible for materials for the device in the respective material office of the organizational areas of the Bundeswehr determines whether parts 1 and 2 as well as the deadline booklet part 22 must be attached to the technical device as accompanying the device. These are marked separately (imprint / stamp).

In general, Part 1 contains the device description, Part 2 information on operation and care, Part 3 the maintenance and service repairs, Part 4 the field and depot repair instructions, and Part 5 the spare parts list . Furthermore, the deadline booklet part 22, the test instructions part 80 and the overview of the maintenance levels for care, maintenance and repair are also included.

As a special feature in the designation, parts 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4 (usually published in one volume anyway) are referred to as "part 12" or "part 34" and the otherwise single-digit numbers (e.g. part 5) with a 0 filled ("Part 50"). Part 4 is marked with the addition (F) for "field repair".

Publication and form

Technical service regulations are based on the instructions of the Army Office from 1975 (last revision 1999) according to national military standards in the technical documentation H011 (all descriptive TDv parts: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x (F), 41 and 8x) and B007 (Spare parts catalogs: part 5x). These regulations in the documentation are now considered obsolete and are gradually being replaced by new international guidelines ( S1000D ™ and S2000M).

TDv are published in different ways: paper, microfilms , CD , DVD and more and more as online versions for download on the intranet of the armed forces.

The catalog of the technical service regulations of the armed forces base with the listing of all TDvs from the army, SKB, IT office and medical office is the TDv 900. It is available to the troops as a microfiche and online version on the intranet of the Bundeswehr.

The TDv belongs to the group of regulations of the "product-related technical documentation" (PTD).

Types and replacements of the TDv

  • If the military use corresponds exactly to the civil use (for example with a video camera), the (civil) operating instructions are enclosed in the function of a TDv.
  • In the case of equipment produced exclusively for the military ( e.g. tanks ), the TDv is created in the procurement process based on the respective specification , often in cooperation with the supplier.
  • If commercially available devices are expanded to include military use (e.g. truck with MG holder) or are used differently by the military (e.g. use of a normal car "hü" (= "commercially available") in the field), a separate TDv is also required created, but in many cases passages taken from civil operating instructions.

particularities

  • Technical service regulations sometimes also contain instructions on how to render the devices unusable. If a vehicle or device has to be left behind so that it could fall into the hands of the enemy, a few effective measures should make it temporarily or permanently unusable. There is also a TDv 031 “rendering of defense material unusable”.
  • A template for camouflaging the vehicles can be found in the general TDv 037: "Fleckentarnanstrich".
