The Technical University of Zhejiang (Chinese: 浙江 理工 大学, Pinyin: Zhèjiāng lǐgōng dàxué ), Engl. Zhejiang Sci-Tech University , or ZSTU for short, is a technical university in Hangzhou , the capital of the Chinese province of Zhejiang . It has around 26,000 students and 1,800 academic staff.

history

In 1897 the "Academy for Silk Construction " was founded, this was the forerunner institution. It has had the right to award doctorates since 1995 and was opened to students from Hong Kong , Macau , Taiwan and abroad in the same year . After being renamed several times (including "Zhejiang University of Silk Industry", "Zhejiang University of Engineering"), it finally got its current name on May 21, 2004.
