from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Technology and Management is a profile of the technical high schools in Baden-Württemberg . The profile is chosen by the student when entering this type of school. The selected profile determines the content taught over the entire three or six years. The technology and management profile is completed after three years. There are interdisciplinary provides technical and business content.

Furthermore, the profile determines a major subject for the Abitur examination.

Creation of the profile

At the end of 2004 the conception of the profile began. In the 2005/2006 school year, the entrance classes were opened as part of a school trial by the participating schools in Nagold , Friedrichshafen , Offenburg and Heilbronn . In 2008, the first Abitur examination was written in the profile technology and management . After a revision of the curriculum used in the school trial, the concept was brought into regular operation in 2011. Since then, the profile model has been successfully offered at other locations.

Reasons for creating

The aim of the interdisciplinary training is to link the content taught at the business high school and the technical high school. The orientation of the training is similar to that of the industrial engineering course .

A Tosca study from 2003 attributes "technical high schools a particular aptitude for exhausting educational reserves." The combination of technology and management is " a contribution to promoting the next generation of engineers by imparting the fundamentals of technology and business."

"The jobs for academics are increasingly linked to the fulfillment of business requirements."

Content

Division of specializations

The distribution of hours in the weekly planning for the individual subjects is as follows.

  • 4 hours of technology
  • 2 hours of business administration
  • 2 hours of project management (elective subject)

The technology and management profile is assigned to task area III (technical-mathematical-scientific) and must meet the uniform examination requirements for the Abitur examination (EPA) defined by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs . This requires the content distribution of the curriculum from 2/3 technology to 1/3 business administration.

Other profiles of the technical high school use economics as an elective instead of project management.

In grade 1, a project is planned that clarifies the practical link between technology and business administration.

Other compulsory elective subjects are economy and society with economic topics as well as global studies, in which bilingual topics such as internationalization and globalization are taken up.
