Technological Threat is an American animated short film directed by Bill Kroyer in 1988. It was created using a mixture of hand drawings and computer animation.

action

An open- plan office full of foxes: when one of the workers collapses, exhausted, the boss appears, opens a hatch at the push of a button, the worker and desk disappear into the floor, and a new desk appears. A short time later the new table is occupied by a worker robot that works constantly and effectively. Over time, all workers will be replaced, be it because they have taken a sip, yawned or sneezed. The boss is also replaced by a robot.

Only one fox is left behind, who does not offer a reason for dismissal due to panicky, high-speed work. He now fights the robots, disrupts their functionality, smashes them or sinks them into the ground using the button. A single robot remains, which is now fighting a duel with the fox. When the robot boss appears and both stand on a hatch door and threaten to be sunk, they manage to sink the boss himself instead through joint action. Both stand together at the open hatch and stare into the depths. The fox takes the opportunity and also pushes the last worker robot into the depths. Left behind, he lights the boss's dropped cigar and is now boss himself.

Awards

Technological Threat was in 1989 for an Oscar in the category " animated Best Short Film nomination," but could not against Tin Toy prevail.

At the Ottawa International Animation Festival , Kroyer won the OIAF Award for Best Film Less than 5 Minutes.
