Ted Naifeh (born June 20, 1971 ) is an American comic artist and author. His best known works are Gloomcookie and the Eisner Award nominated series Courtney Crumrin .

Life

Naifeh began working as a draftsman in the comics sector in 1990. His first published work was an adaptation of the novel Shadow of the Torturer for Innovation Comics, which was discontinued after three of six issues. Other early works by Naifeh include The Machine (for Dark Horse Comics ) and the illustrated short story The Grease Trap with science fiction writer Joe R. Landsdale for Mojo Press.

In the mid-1990s, Naifeh left the comic industry and worked as a graphic designer for Accolade, a video game company. He returned to comics in 1998 and began working on Gloomcookie , a comic series with writer Serena Valentino. Gloomcookie is a collection of related short stories set in the Gothic subculture. Ted Naifeh designed the first 6 issues of the series. Then the series of John Gebbia (Issue 7-12), Breehn John Burns (Issue 13-17), Harley Sparx (Issue 18-23) and Vincent Batignole was continued. Gloomcookie is published by Slave Labor Graphics .
