Oni Press
Oni Press is an American comic book publisher that publishes independent comics. Oni Press was founded in 1997 by Bob Schreck and Joe Nozemack . The name of the publisher is derived from the Japanese Oni demons, which are also included in the publisher's logo.
Oni Press was founded with the explicit intention of publishing “real mainstream” comics. The mainstream of the US comic market consists mainly of superhero comics , with most other genres being marginalized in American comics. On the other hand, Onis has a wide range of products, in addition to thrillers, romances, dramas and westerns, horror comics and here and there superheroes appear in the publishing program.
Oni mainly publishes miniseries and graphic novels , Greg Rucka's agent series Queen and Country appeared monthly for a long time, but is currently on pause. That is why the end-of-time series Wasteland is currently the only monthly magazine series from the publisher. Bob Schreck is also editor-in-chief of Legendary Comics .
In the German-speaking countries, some Oni Press Comics are published by eidalon Verlag .
