Bryan Lee O'Malley (born February 21, 1979 ) is a Canadian cartoonist .

Life

His first published graphic novel was Lost At Sea (2003). He celebrated his greatest success with the six-volume Scott Pilgrim series (2004 to 2010), which was adapted as a feature film by British director Edgar Wright before the sixth volume of the series was released on July 20, 2010. All of his graphic novels have been published by Oni Press to date . He is also a songwriter and musician (as Kupek and previously in various short-lived bands in the Toronto area ).

For O'Malley, illustration of the Oni Press miniseries Hopeless Savages: Ground Zero, written by Jen Van Meter , took precedence over the publication of his own material . He also has many Oni Press comics drawn , including the majority of Chynna Clugstons productions between 2002 and 2005.

In 2005, O'Malley won the Doug Wright Award for Best Emerging Talent and was nominated for 3 Harvey Awards . He was also nominated for a 2006 Eisner Award for 'Best Writer / Artist - Humor' and 'Outstanding Canadian Comic Cartoonist (Writer / Artist)' at the 2005 and 2006 Joe Shuster Awards .

O'Malley is half Korean and half French-Canadian. From 2010 to 2014 he was married to cartoonist Hope Larson .
