J. Torres

J. Torres (* 1969 in Manila ; actually Joseph Torres ) is a Canadian comic book author . He writes the monthly Teen Titans Go! Title for DC Comics , the quarterly series Love As A Foreign Language for Oni Press , and contributes to the Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi show for Cartoon Network and comic series for DC.

Life

The writer grew up in Montreal , where he was taught at McGill University , but currently resides in Toronto .

His various projects have earned him nominations for the prestigious Eisner Award (Alison Dare, 2003), Harvey Award (Sidekicks, 2001) and Shuster Award ("Outstanding Canadian Writer" 2004 and 2005).

Other merits include working on Batman , Black Panther , Rugrats, and X-Men comics; Children's books for Scholastic and writings for magazines such as Kayak, Whoa and Nickelodeon (e.g. Avatar: The Last Airbender ).

Upcoming publications include Lola: A Ghost Story and Dead Goombas for Oni Press, as well as editions of Batman Strikes and Cartoon Network Block Party for DC and the Degrassi: Extra Credit series of graphic novels for Simon & Schuster.
