General
The title refers to a youth club in Florida where Pastorius grew up. In addition to bass, Pastorius also plays the drums, which he first recorded.
“Teen Town was a place I went to dance a lot when I was 13, it was a church in Pompano Beach , Florida. I used to wish I could play the drums there. Now I'm a bass player, but I can still play the drums. "
The bass melody is played in parallel by Joe Zawinul on the Oberheim synthesizer.
“This bass melody is played by both of us! It was the eight-part Oberheim that doubled its bass, and we play so well together that it sounds like an instrument. The bass is a wonderful instrument, but sometimes you need a little more attack . Jaco brought it in and it was done very quickly. "
