content

For the first time, a high school graduate has a girlfriend who also has sexual intercourse. It is also her first sexual experience for the young girl. When she accidentally becomes pregnant, the two young people decide to put the baby up for adoption after it is born. When the child is born, however, things turn out to be much more difficult than either of us imagined.

Production and Background

It is a production by New Visions Inc. Taylor Hackford later stated that the Oscar he received for this film had a decisive influence on his career.

The short film was first broadcast on television in the United States in 1980. There is a longer scene in the film in which the young man and his friends talk quite openly about sex and in a vivid way. In the 1980s, such an open approach to youth language was felt to be inappropriate, which led to controversy .
