The Teeters Nunatak is the northernmost of the three heavily eroded Miocene stratovolcanoes that essentially make up the Hudson Mountains in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . With a height of 617  m, it is one of the highest peaks in this mountainous region. It rises 8 km north of the Hodgson Nunatak and about 45 km northwest of Mount Moses .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Robert E. Teeters of the US Navy, who was appointed as warehouse manager in 1966 the Byrd station was operating.
