Teknikens Värld ( German  world of technology ) is an automobile magazine founded in 1948 and is one of the highest-circulation Swedish magazines in this segment. It is published by Bonnier Tidskrifter , a subsidiary of the Bonnier group, and appears every two weeks.

history

The magazine was founded in 1948 and featured articles on subjects such as cars, motorsports, planes, and missiles. Later they concentrated on cars and reported a lot about motor sport races, especially Formula 1 in which Ronnie Peterson was successful in the 1970s. In 1996 pictures of the new Saab 9000 (realized 1997 as Saab 9-5 ) were published, photographed in a warehouse at Stockholm / Arlanda Airport . The parent company General Motors threatened with a lawsuit for damages, but the newspaper was acquitted , among other things, of the allegation of industrial espionage.

In 1997, the then deputy editor-in-chief of Teknikens Värld, Robert Collin, carried out a so-called moose test with the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class near Stockholm . The car overturned, which prompted Mercedes to install the ESP , which was then only used in luxury cars . This gave the technology a boost in popularity and was installed in more and more cars.

The Teknikens Värld website went online in 2002 and is now one of the most visited Swedish car sites. In addition to the bi-weekly magazine, there are special issues on various brands and other publications on the subject of cars.
