The Teleosauridae were a group of marine crocodiles that lived from the Lower to the Upper Jurassic . They were probably amphibious fish and belemnite hunters in shallow, coastal regions of the sea and estuaries.

features

Its snout was, similar to that of today's Gaviale , very elongated, narrow and covered with sharp, alternating teeth. The head was flat. The short front legs, which only reach half the length of the hind legs, are characteristic of the teleosaurids. The shoulder and pelvic girdles are only slightly modified compared to those of terrestrial crocodiles. In contrast to their sister group , the Metriorhynchidae , the Teleosauridae also retained the strong back armor.
