The Telescope Peak is a 1,270 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Royal Society Range it is the highest point in the eastern part of the Transit Ridge .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 1993 after a telescope that is often used in geodesy in the form of the theodolite .
