Tembagapura ( German copper city ) is an Indonesian city in New Guinea . It is located in the south of the province of Papua at an altitude of 2812 m and belongs to the district ( Kecamatan ) Tembagapura in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Mimika . 20,697 people live in the district (2010).
The town was built to house the workers of the Grasberg mine 10 km away . The city's airport is called Timuka (IATA code TIM).
