Temple is an underground station on line 3 of the Paris Métro .
location
The Metro Station Temple is located in the Quartier des Arts et Métiers of the 3rd arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Rue de Turbigo .
Surname
It is named after the Rue du Temple , into which the Rue de Turbigo joins at the northeast end of the station at Place Élisabeth-Dmitrieff . A fortified place of the Knights Templar (fr: Chevaliers du Temple) was located near the road around the 13th century .
history
On October 19, 1904, the station went into operation with the opening of line 3. This was opened to traffic on its first section from Villiers to Père Lachaise .
description
The station has the shape of an elliptical vault, the ceiling and side walls are tiled in white. It is 75 meters long and has two side platforms on two main tracks. The only access is on Place Élisabeth-Dmitrieff , it was designed by Hector Guimard .
vehicles
As a result of the accident at Couronnes station , line 3 was equipped with vehicles that ran on bogies from the start . The five-car trains consisted of three multiple units and two trailer cars . They were later replaced by Sprague-Thomson trains , which ran there until 1967. In that year, Line 3 was the first to receive the new MF 67 series , which runs classically on steel rails . These trains will still be in use there in 2020, and from 2028 they are to be replaced by trains from the MF 19 series.
