The Temple protestant (German: Evangelical Church) is a church building of the United Protestant Church of France in Langlade in the Gard department ( Occitania region ). Langlade forms a parish with Caveirac and Saint-Dionisy .

history

Today's Evangelical Church is a Romanesque building from the 12th century and was originally the parish church of the village, consecrated to St. Julian ( St-Julien ). With its strict forms, the single-nave nave and the semicircular apse in the east, the church is a typical Romanesque building in Languedoc .

The parish church of St-Julien was mentioned for the first time in 1149 and belonged to the Archdeaconate of Nîmes . In the wars of religion, the building was affected and badly damaged. Since the population of Protestants remained high, the church was transferred to the Reformed after the French Revolution in 1802 . The characteristic clock tower ( Tour de l'Horloge ) was added to the west facade .
