Tenemu represented in the coffin texts of the Middle Kingdom as part of the primeval chaos next to the darkness Kuk and the endlessness Huh, the deity of "pathlessness". She is also the wife of Tenem .
The function of Tenemu is described in the “ Schu Book”: “ Schu is enveloped with the breath of life from the phoenix's throat on the day when Atum was created in Heh , Nu , Keku and Tenemu. The field goddess binds Shu in Tenemu. "
