Teodoro Cottrau
Teodoro Cottrau (born December 7, 1827 in Naples , † March 30, 1879 there ) was an Italian author and composer of French origin. He noted the melody and translated the text of the famous Neapolitan song Santa Lucia (which is widely used in the Neapolitan dialect) into Italian (1849). Some sources cite him as the composer of the song, but more likely he was just an arranger of a traditional song. He is the son of the double bass player Guillaume Louis Cottrau (1797–1847).
