description
Tephrocactus molinensis grows in small groups of 25 centimeters in diameter, which are often partially covered with sand, and reaches heights of up to 10 centimeters. The slightly sloping, red-brownish, spherical to briefly egg-shaped shoot segments are humped. They are 2.5 to 4 centimeters long and 1.5 to 3 centimeters in diameter. The humps are only indistinctly developed. There are 20 to 25 evenly distributed areoles per shoot segment , which are quite large. There are no thorns . The reddish or greyish and only rarely almost white glochids are in clear clusters and are surrounded by a hair ring.
The more or less pink-white flowers have darker central stripes. They are up to 3 centimeters long and reach the same diameter. Your pericarpel is covered with areoles, which are covered with wool. The thin-walled fruits are dry.
