Tequila Don Julio
Tequila Don Julio is the name of a distillery that produces the tequila of the same name , which is one of the best and well-priced variants of the Mexican national drink. The drink is produced in the usual varieties Blanco , Reposado and Añejo as well as under the names 1942 and Real . The name 1942 commemorates the year in which Don Julio González started producing the tequila with a limited edition. Since the tequila was stored in an oak barrel for at least two and a half years in 1942 , it belongs to the añejo variety . The tequila with the name Real is stored in a white oak barrel for between three and five years and thus belongs to the extra-añejo variety .
Don Julio González spent his life striving to improve his tequila and meticulously took care of every aspect, from cultivating the agave to bottling the finished product. Tradition has it that Don Julio initially only made tequila in small quantities to enjoy with friends in good company. However, when the word got around far beyond his circle of friends and acquaintances how good his tequila tasted and he was approached by more and more strangers, he finally felt called to found his own distillery. He gave this the name La Primavera . It was the predecessor of the Tequila Don Julio, SA de CV, now named after him, based in Atotonilco El Alto , Jalisco .
The company's cheaper Mixto variant is Tequila Tres Magueyes , which is made from agave sugar at least 51% and max. 49% consists of other added sugars, such as B. the Mixto from Sierra Tequila, known in Germany .
At the beginning of November 2014, the spirits group Diageo announced an agreement to take over Don Julio from the Casa Cuervo distillery by the beginning of 2015.
