Tchiknavorian started as a ski crosser on January 31, 2009 in Le Sauze for the first time in the European Cup and finished 21st. He completed his first World Cup race on January 11, 2012 in Alpe d'Huez , which he finished in 38th place. At the Junior World Championships in 2012 and 2013 in Chiesa in Valmalenco , he won the silver medal. In the 2012/13 season he reached second place in the ski cross classification of the European Cup with two second places and one victory. On March 15, 2014 he achieved his first top 10 placement in the World Cup with seventh place in Åre . In the 2014/15 season he came fourth twice in eleven World Cup starts and thus finished 20th in the Skicross World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen , he finished 20th.
At the beginning of the 2017/18 season , Tchiknavorian achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup on December 7, 2017 with third place in Val Thorens . A week later, a second place followed in the Montafon .
Tchiknavorian has taken part in 56 World Cup races to date and has placed in the top ten twelve times (as of the end of December 2017).
