Teresa Pellati

Maria Teresa Pellati (born August 29, 1929 in Casalgrande , † December 23, 2010 in Sassuolo ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Pellati was born in the northern Italian municipality of Casalgrande and moved with her family to the industrial city of Sassuolo in 1938. She took part in the Miss Emilia-Romagna election in 1950 and was able to win the title. Soon afterwards she went to Rome as an actress, until she retired from the film business in 1991 and returned to Sassuolo, where she lived until her death.

Pellati first acted in theater before turning to the film industry and starring in Roberto Rossellini's 1952 feature film Europa 51 alongside Ingrid Bergman and in Toto and the Women , directed by Stefano Vanzina and Mario Monicelli . In 1956 she could be seen in the role of Liudmila in King Vidor's War and Peace . Further film roles followed.

Since 2011 the Teresa Pellati Award for the best actor has been presented at the Ozu Film Festival (short film festival) in Sassuolo .
