Ternium is an Argentine company with headquarters in Luxembourg . Ternium operates in the steel industry and was created out of three companies: Siderar (Argentina), Sidor ( Venezuela ) and Hylsa ( Mexico ). The company employs around 18,000 people.
In 2007 the Mexican steel group Grupo IMSA was taken over. In May 2008, the Venezuelan Sidor division was nationalized by the Venezuelan government.
Ternium is owned by Techint , a company founded in Argentina by Italian immigrant Agostino Rocca. Today son Paolo heads the group. In addition to the steel sector, Ternium is also active in the oil and gas, construction and plant engineering segments. According to the Ternium website, the group employs 51,000 people. Revenue in 2014 was $ 19 billion.
In 2017, Ternium bought the Brazilian steelworks CSA Companhia Siderurgica do Atlantico near Rio de Janeiro from the German steel group ThyssenKrupp for 1.5 billion euros. At that time, Ternium had production facilities in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia , the USA and Guatemala, among others .
