Walter Kissel

Walter Kissel (born February 26, 1951 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

After studying Classical Philology and Ancient History in Tübingen and Heidelberg , Kißel became a research assistant there in 1975 and a university assistant in 1980. Doctorate in 1978 , he completed his habilitation in 1986 and became an adjunct professor. He then taught at the Universities of Munich , Konstanz and Tübingen , until in 1993 he received and accepted a call from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as Associate Professor of Classical Philology at Severin Koster's chair . From 2008 to 2016 he was acting head of the chair for Latin. Kißel has been retired since October 2016. His successor as head of the chair has been the chair holder Christoph Schubert since April 2017 .
