Adolf Römer
Adolf Römer , also Adolph Römer (born September 21, 1843 in Dirmstein , † April 27, 1913 in Erlangen ) was a German classical philologist .
Life
After studying classical philology, Römer was assistant, teacher and grammar school professor at various schools and, most recently, from 1887 to 1893 rector of the grammar school in Kempten. In order to be able to convey his views on Homer and the tragedy to future high school teachers, he decided in 1893 to accept the offer at the University of Erlangen , and was succeeded by Ivan von Müller . He kept the chair of Greek until his death.
In 1883 Römer was elected an extraordinary member and in 1887 a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

The Erlangen Philosophical Faculty appointed Römer an honorary doctorate in 1892 .
