The Ternopil Encyclopedic Dictionary ( Ukrainian Тернопільський енциклопедичний словник / Ternopil's'kyj encyklopedyčnyj slovnyk ) ( TES ) is a 4-volume, the east Galicia oblast Ternopil and its regional center Ternopil dedicated reference.

Thirty years after the publication of the Ternopil volume from the series History of the Cities and Villages of the Ukrainian SSR , the local historians and local historians of Ternopil began their work on the Ternopil Encyclopedic Dictionary. It was supposed to replace the earlier outdated and ideologically laden reference work. The 4 volumes, which appeared between 2004 and 2010, apply to the city and the entire oblast. On almost 2,900 pages there is an encyclopaedic description of what defines the culture and nature of the area. The model for the dictionary was the recently started encyclopedia of modern Ukraine , which has led to a particularly large proportion of biographies. The supplementary 4th volume almost exclusively contains further biographies. The articles are sometimes provided with references to literature, and there are also black and white images, mostly photos of the personal articles. A few glossy pages reproduce poor quality color images. All the volumes that were printed in Ternopil in an edition of only 3500 copies can be found online on the website of the Ternopil Oblast Universal Scientific Library.
