The Protestant village church Laubst is a listed church building in Laubst , a district of the city of Drebkau in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg .

Building history

The Laubster village church was built in the late 15th century as a rectangular field stone building. The late baroque west tower made of brick was added in the 19th century .

During the GDR era, the village of Laubst was declared a mining reserve and intended for demolition for the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine , which is why it was no longer possible to carry out repairs to the church. The demolition plans were later discarded. In 2004 the roof of the nave was renovated. The tower, which is also in great need of renovation, could not be renovated due to insufficient financial resources. In 2011 it was found that the tower was in great danger of collapsing . In April 2012, to relieve the masonry tower shaft, the tower hood including the lantern was removed and placed on the ground next to the church. On October 24, 2017, the repaired tower hood with lantern and tower decoration was put back on the newly bricked up tower shaft with octagon .

The village church Laubst belongs to the parish of Leuthen-Schorbus , which also includes the village churches in Schorbus , Leuthen and Illmersdorf . She belongs to the church district Cottbus in the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

Furnishing

The village church of Laubst has a pulpit altar from 1608, which is one of the most beautiful altars in Brandenburg. This is two-story and has fittings and masks. In the center of the altar are depictions of the Last Supper , the Last Judgment and the invocation of God the Father.

The simple wooden pulpit dates from the 17th century. In the southeastern part of the nave there is a death shield . The organ of the church is currently not playable. The christening angel from 1752 was restored with the help of donations in 2007.
