The Terrassenfest is a music festival that has been taking place at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in Lower Saxony since 1998 . It is one of the largest festivals in the region and is organized by students and alumni of the university.
Since 2014, the organizers have organized the Terrassenfest Osnabrück eV, which acts as the organizer. The date is usually mid to late April, just before the Osnabrück May week . At the festival with a mixture of mostly rock and alternative, but also other styles of music, some established music groups as well as newcomers and unknown artists and groups perform.
Visitor numbers and marginal information
After the number of visitors had leveled off at 11,000 to 13,000 since 2002, it has risen to over 15,000 since the 2011 Terrace Festival.
In 2014 a bus shuttle service was introduced through the city center to Neumarkt every half hour from 01:00 a.m. This was also very well received by the guests.
The terrace festival opens on Monday from 9 a.m. and ends on Wednesday after the last DJ. The program of the festival consists of a breakfast buffet, many games and workshops, and ends every evening with bands and DJs.
In addition to many students from Osnabrück universities, visitors come from the Osnabrück district and North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
The Terrassenfest goes back to the "Osnabrück Students Festival" held for the first time in 1976 by students from the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and has been known as the "Terrassenfest" since 1998. Due to extensive construction work on the Westerberg campus of the Osnabrück universities, the event has moved several times to different locations on campus since 2010 and has now been held on the forecourt of the Westerberg canteen since 2013 .
