Tess Johnson (born June 19, 2000 ) is an American freestyle skier . It starts in the moguls disciplines, contained moguls and dual moguls.

Career

Johnson took part in the Nor-Am Cup in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons. She won two races and took third place in the Moguls discipline ranking and first place in the overall ranking in the 2015/16 season. At the Junior World Championships 2015 in Chiesa in Valmalenco , she was seventh in the Dual Moguls and fifth in the Moguls. She made her World Cup debut in February 2016 in Deer Valley , which she finished in 22nd place. At the Junior World Championships in Åre in 2016 , she won the silver medal in the Moguls competition. In the Dual Moguls, she came ninth there. In the 2016/17 season she was twice in the top ten and thus achieved 13th place in the Moguls World Cup. In the following season she reached the 24th place in the overall World Cup and seventh place in the Moguls World Cup. She achieved six top ten placements and won her first World Cup victory in the Dual Moguls in Tazawako . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she finished 12th in the Moguls. In March 2018, she became US champion in the Dual Moguls in Waterville Valley .

In the 2018/19 season Johnson came in nine World Cup starts, eight times in the top ten, including third place in the Moguls in Lake Placid and thus reached fifth place in the Moguls World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2019 World Championships in Park City , she won the bronze medal in the Dual Moguls. The following season she was with six top ten finishes, tenth in the Mughal World Cup.
