Tetsuo Sakurai

Tetsuo Sakurai ( Japanese 櫻井 (桜 井) 哲夫 , Sakurai Tetsuo ; born November 13, 1957 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese bass player .

Life

He started playing bass when he was 13. From 1976 to 1989 he was a member of the jazz fusion band Casiopea and from 1990 to 1998 the duo Jimsaku with Akira Jimbo . In total, he released 37 albums with Casiopea, Jimsaku and alone as well as three instructional videos. He is currently composing and playing his own music and performing as a solo artist with guest musicians. He recorded his third solo album TLM20 (2000) live with Issei Noro and Minoru Mukaiya from Casiopea. Akira Jimbo on drums and Kazuki Katsuta from Dimension on saxophone . He recorded his fourth solo album Gentle Hearts (2001) with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers . He recorded his fifth solo album Cartas do Brasil (2003) in Rio de Janeiro a . a. together with Djavan , Ivan Lins and Rosa Passos . In 2004 he toured with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers. A live recording was released on DVD a year later.
