Benedetto Cardinal Naro

Benedetto Naro (born July 26, 1744 in Rome , † September 6, 1832 in Osimo ) was a curia cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

In 1814 Naro Maggiordomo was the Pope's. Pope Pius VII created him cardinal in the consistory of March 8, 1816 and appointed him cardinal priest with the titular church of San Clemente .

In 1824 Pope Leo XII appointed him. to the Archpriest of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore . 1818–1821 he was prefect of the Index Congregation and from 1821 until his death prefect of the Roman Curia.

Cardinal Naro participated in the conclave of 1823 that Pope Leo XII. elected, further at the conclave of 1829 , which Pope Pius VIII elected, and finally at the conclave of 1830/31 , which Pope Gregory XVI. selected

He died a year after Gregory's election at the age of 88 and, according to his will, was buried in the Church of San Clemente after being laid out in San Marcello .
