Devil's Stone (Lubmin)
The Teufelsstein is a boulder in the Greifswalder Bodden near Lubmin . It is one of the largest boulders in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . The stone is registered as a geotope at the State Office for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Geology Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania under the number G2_032 .
The stone is located on the Schorre in the southern bank area of the Greifswald Bodden around 25 m north of the cliff coast . In 1909 it was still above the cliff. It serves as a benchmark for measuring the coastal decline .
Its length is 6 m, width 3.6 m and height 3.0 m. With a circumference of 16.9 m, it has a volume of 34 m 3 . It is made of granite . On the top there is a trough in which water collects.
According to various legends, the devil from Rügen threw the stone at the Wusterhusener church . According to one legend, however, it ricocheted off the church tower, according to another, the devil missed the church.
