The Tezepir Mosque ( Azerbaijani Təzəpir məscidi ) is located in the Azerbaijani capital Baku .

history

Construction of the mosque began in 1905, the architect was Ziver bey Ahmadbeyov under the auspices of Nabat Khanum Ashurbayova. Construction was interrupted after the patron's death. Soon, however, it was continued with the support of Ashurbayova's son; eventually the mosque was completed in 1914.

Only three years after it was opened, the church had to be closed in the course of the October Revolution in 1917. Over the years the mosque has served as a cinema and barn, and finally as a mosque again from 1943 until today. Achund the mosque is currently the Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahşükür Paşazadə .

The interior of the mosque covers an area of ​​1400 m² and is decorated with ornaments from Azerbaijani painting and oriental patterns. The mihrab and dome are made of marble, while decorative elements, the tips of the minarets and inscriptions are made of gold. The dome, on which Lā ilāha illā ʾllāh ( u), i.e. the first part of the Islamic creed, Shahāda , is depicted six times , is made of qızılqaya rock. The building's windows and doors are made of mahogany .
