Théophile Gide
Théophile Gide (born March 15, 1822 in Paris ; † November 29, 1890 there ) was a French genre and history painter .
Théophile Gide received his artistic training from Paul Delaroche and Léon Cogniet in 1840 and exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1845 . 1866 was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
He devoted himself primarily to the genre scenes of Italian folk life, which he knows how to express in a true-to-nature, very characteristic way, but also to the historical genre and the interior.
