The Thüringer Eisenbahn GmbH (ThE) is a private railway company, founded in 1999, as the railway infrastructure companies routes of the Deutsche Bahn AG has taken to bring them up to modern technical standards and operate in the long term. The company operates a total of 116 kilometers of routes and two access points in Thuringia. The ThE is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Erfurter Gleisbau GmbH .

- Eisfeld - Sonneberg (Thür) ( Eisfeld – Sonneberg railway line , passenger traffic since October 3, 2002)
- Sonneberg (Thür) - Neuhaus am Rennweg (see Coburg – Ernstthal am Rennsteig and Probstzella – Neuhaus am Rennweg railway , passenger traffic since December 15, 2002)
- Sonneberg (Thür) - state border (- Coburg) in operation by DB Regio Bayern (only the Thuringian part, see Coburg – Ernstthal railway on Rennsteig )
