The Thüringer Tageblatt was the GDR CDU's daily newspaper for the Erfurt , Suhl and Gera districts . It was published from May 1, 1946 to January 31, 1992. The place of publication was Weimar .

The first editor-in-chief from May to October 1946 was the former press officer of Deutsche Bank , Maximilian Müller-Jabusch (1889–1961). After a few months he fled to the West and became editor-in-chief of “ Der Abend ” in West Berlin. His successors were Heinz Baumann (until 1949) and August Bach (from February 19, 1949).

Due to the low paper allocation, the sheet initially appeared only three times a week with an initial circulation of 30,000 copies (September 1946), which had to be reduced to 12,000 by May 1947.

The TTB was one of three admitted daily newspapers of the block parties in the Thuringian districts.

The Erfurt editor of the Thuringian Tageblatt Michael opinion , later spokesman for the Thuringia State Government, received in 1990 a praise from the editors of Erfurt home letter of the Association Heimattreue Erfurt : "The editors of the EAW it owes in recent years the SED dictatorship some notes and background information, which he did not pass on without endangering his existence. Without this, the “Half-Year Gazette” (in the EMS) would not have been so interesting and up-to-date ”.

After the turning point and the peaceful revolution , the Treuhandanstalt, as the fiduciary administrator of the assets of the Eastern CDU, contributed its shares in the Thüringer Tageblatt to Deutsche Zeitungsverlag (DVZ) as capital deposits. The DVZ was a joint venture in which the FAZ held half of the shares.

The Berlin daily newspaper “ Neue Zeit ” took over the newspapers “ Der Neue Weg ” and “Thüringer Tageblatt” published by the (DVZ) in Halle and Weimar in February 1992. A short time later the newspaper had to be closed for economic reasons.
