Tha Alkaholiks or Tha Liks are an American rap group from Los Angeles , California . The group members are Tash , J-Ro, and E-Swift .
Band history
The group came together in the early 1990s. Tash & E-Swift, who both grew up in Cincinnati , were members of the Disturbers Of The Peace (DOP) group there. Together they moved to Los Angeles , where they met J-Ro. He had previously worked with Suavee D & King Tee in a group called Total Control , but wanted to develop further.
They first appeared under the name Tha Alkaholiks on King Tee's single I Got It Bad Y'all , which eventually earned them a contract with Loud Records . They released four albums through this label before it went bankrupt.
For the third album, Likwidation , a collaboration with Ol 'Dirty Bastard Hip Hop Drunkies emerged , which has become one of the milestones of hip hop culture in Europe.
For the 2001 album, XO Experience , they changed their name to Tha Liks because they were threatened with boycotts because of the offensive name.
After a five-year hiatus, they reunited to record their farewell album Firewater , this time through Waxploitation Inc. and under their old group name.
In the following, the three rappers want to devote themselves to their solo careers.
